Camping at Starved Rock

Well, now that it’s the weekend again, I figure it’s about time I blogged about last weekend’s camping trip. We went with the Great Lakes Popup Club to Starved Rock State Park. The weather couldn’t have been better. The park didn’t fill up entirely (which is rare), but quite a few club members made the trip. The sites there are pretty big, so it’s one of our favorite places.

Starved Rock

Saturday morning we drove up to Aurora to join Tim (who had flown in from Denver) and his mom for lunch. Eric rolled in to camp around 5:30, just in time for the potluck dinner with the club. On Sunday we took a short hike, maybe three miles. We reached the ends of LaSalle and Tonti canyons, both of which had nice waterfalls. Evan enjoyed the ride, seeing the falls, and talking to all the dogs on the trail!

Eric got a nail in his car tire somewhere very near to camp. When he pulled up, it was low, but a few minutes later it was flat. Other than that, it was a pretty uneventful but relaxing weekend, and the perfect cure for a winter’s worth of cabin fever!
